80% of lung cancer patients are often diagnosed in the middle or late stage, thus missing the best opportunity for treatment.
Why does lung cancer always come in a fierce manner? Is there no signal at the early stage? Is there any way to prevent it?
I. Early symptoms of lung cancer are not obvious
Lung cancer, like most cancers, has inconspicuous early symptoms.
Early stage is usually cough, chest tightness, fever, loss of appetite, etc. These symptoms usually appear, and it is too easy to be ignored as minor diseases.
Moreover, lung itself is a special organ, with two lobes of the lungs in a large chest cavity, and lung tumors have to grow to a certain size before they press on other organs, causing symptoms such as pain and coughing up blood.
At this time, they panic and go to the hospital for examination, but often they have already reached the middle or late stage of lung cancer.
II. Early diagnosis and treatment are most important
The earlier lung cancer is detected and treated, the higher the survival rate is. After standardized treatment, the 5-year survival rate of early stage I lung cancer can even reach 100%, and the 10-year survival rate of stage I lung cancer patients is more than 80%, but the 5-year survival rate of patients with advanced stage is only 16.1%.
The key to the 84% survival rate difference lies in early screening, early detection and early intervention!
III. How can lung cancer be detected early?
If you belong to a high-risk group, it is recommended to have a low-dose spiral CT once a year to screen for early lung cancer.
The reason why it is called low-dose spiral CT is that its radiation dose is 26% or even lower than that of ordinary CT, which greatly reduces the side effects of radiation and does not affect people’s health.
Moreover, low-dose spiral CT scans a cross-section of the lungs in one layer, which is more intuitive and can detect very small lesions (≤ 2 mm in diameter) in the lungs.
The earlier the lung cancer is detected, the more treatment options are available and the greater the chance of a cure.
IV. Do not want to get lung cancer, to stay away from these 3 things
In addition to early screening, lung cancer prevention should also pay attention to stay away from these risk factors:
1、Tobacco
Smoking is recognized as the most important factor that induces lung cancer, 90% of lung cancers are related to smoking, and second-hand smoke will also increase the risk of lung cancer.
The more cigarettes you smoke and the longer you have smoked, the greater the risk of lung cancer.
2、Kitchen fumes
Cooking oil produced at high temperature contains more than 200 kinds of harmful substances, and long-term exposure to oil smoke will increase the risk of lung cancer by 3.79 times.
So remember to turn on the range hood when cooking, and “turn it on early and off late”.
3、Decoration pollution
The radon, phenol, formaldehyde and other carcinogens in the decoration materials are a class of carcinogens, which will enhance the concentration of indoor PM2.5 and jeopardize health, and ensure the use of environmentally friendly materials when decorating, as well as open the windows more often to ventilate the air.
Overall, although cancer is terrible, many tragedies can be avoided. Adopting good living habits, 1/3 of cancers can be avoided through prevention, regular medical checkups and early screening, 1/3 of cancers can be effectively controlled through early detection. Prevention without disease, early treatment with disease, this is the significance of physical examination.
