Do You Have a Type a or Type B Personality? If the Former, Take Care of Your Heart

Among the risk factors of coronary heart disease, personality also accounts for one of them, but it is easy to be ignored. In the United States and China, there are relevant studies, type A personality accounts for more than 70 per cent of the number of people with coronary heart disease.

1、The human character can be divided into A, B

American cardiologist Freedman and behavioural medicine Rosenrow, they divided the human character into A, B two types.

A type of personality, performance for doing things in a hurry, one thing is not completed, and go to do another thing. And competitive, will compete, in order to achieve the goal, not afraid of difficulties, the courage to forge ahead. Usually speak quickly and forcefully. Easily agitated, angry, impatient, neglecting to rest and take care of themselves.

Type B personality, the opposite of type A personality, will do things slowly and unhurriedly. Will go with the flow, do not compete with others, will pay attention to their own leisure time, a combination of work and rest, belong to the soothing, good at self-regulation of the character.

2、Ambitious people are prone to coronary heart disease

Two scientists to study a large number of psychological activities and the relationship between the disease, the results found that, in the heart disease patients, sharp-minded and ambitious people accounted for the majority.

The two men designed an experiment, so that people of type A personality and type B personality, together to answer questions, the person who answered more correctly will be given a reward.

When the type A personality accepts the test, they appear to be particularly serious, and there is nervousness and excitement, if the answer is correct, they will show a giddy look, and if the answer is wrong, they will be very frustrated. On the other hand, a Type B personality is relaxed and calm when taking a test, and can be relaxed when answering correctly or incorrectly.

When the experimenters were examined, it was found that people with type A personalities had elevated blood pressure, accelerated heart rate, and significant increases in adrenaline, norepinephrine, and other hormones that cause vasoconstriction in the bloodstream at the time of the test. In the case of people with type B personalities, the relevant indicators were smoother and did not change much.

Subsequent studies have also confirmed that human emotions can affect endocrine regulation. When a person encounters a stimulus that causes mental tension, it will excite the sympathetic nerves, leading to an increase in the secretion of catecholamine hormones. In addition to increasing blood pressure and heart rate, it also causes lipid metabolism disorders, increases blood coagulability, and also tends to cause constriction and spasm of the coronary arteries, leading to cardiovascular lesions.

3、Controlling your temper can protect your heart

The direct factors leading to coronary heart disease are hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidaemia and smoking. Bad temper is not a direct factor leading to coronary heart disease, but short temper, will make people in a state of long-term tension, resulting in neuromodulation disorders, a variety of hormonal imbalances, will accelerate the progress of cardiovascular disease.

In fact, studying and working hard will not increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, but an overly competitive mindset will make one hostile and aggressive towards others, thus affecting one’s heart health. Therefore, you should consciously control your temper, reduce your competitive mindset, and don’t be impatient when things go wrong, so that you can protect your heart.

To sum up, bad-tempered people are more likely to suffer from coronary heart disease than good-tempered people. People with potential risk of cardiovascular disease, in addition to the “three highs” to control, maintain a healthy lifestyle, but also pay attention to control their temper. When encountered to make their own angry things, do not immediately “shot up”, but to do three deep breaths, to give themselves a little more time to think, do not want to fight for unnecessary things, the damage to their health is not worth it.
